Exciting New Menopause Research
Health News
A newly published study from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine shows that Revival Soy can reduce hot flashes and night sweats, while improving quality of life in menopausal women.†
The objective of this new study was to examine the effects of Revival Soy on the quality of life of early postmenopausal women (average age = 56 years). This was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of 93 postmenopausal women. The study volunteers drank either one Revival Soy protein shake (20 grams of soy protein with ~160 milligrams of total soy isoflavones) per day or one placebo shake (20 grams of milk protein with no soy isoflavones) per day for 12 weeks. The postmenopausal study volunteers were asked to complete the Menopause-specific Quality of Life (MENQOL) questionnaire to determine the effect of consuming their protein shake on their menopausal quality of life. This questionnaire addressed four specific areas of postmenopausal quality of life: vasomotor (hot flashes & night sweats), psychosocial (mood), physical (stamina, sleep, aches, etc), and sexual (intimacy).
The results of this study showed that on average the women consuming the Revival Soy shake daily for just 12 weeks saw an improvement (~40% on average) in all 4 postmenopausal quality of life areas, including a reduction in hot flashes and night sweats. In contrast, the study volunteers in the placebo group did not obtain these benefits. The study investigators concluded consuming Revival Soy was associated with an improved quality of life in early postmenopausal women.†
